what is the difference in training received in a Paralegal Study vs Juris Doctrate?

I am interested in obtaining my Juris Doctrate, but,in the meanwhile, while obtaining my Bachelors,I am interested in taking a Paralegal Associates online.I am wondering if there is any similarity in what you learn in a Paralegal Course,vs what you learn while obtaining your Juris Doctrate.
Can anyone outline what the main courses/classes are in each field of study.
If possible, include the names of the text books used in each course.

Paralegal programs tend to place a heavier emphasis on practical legal skills that can be used on the job, and process and procedure oriented laws (when, where and how to file various legal instruments with various government agencies or courts). While there may be some overlap with law school curriculum, particularly with regards to legal research and legal memorandums, law school classes have a much heavier focus on substantive law and legal theory as well as how to analyze case law and statutory law and how to apply those laws to the facts of various real and hypothetical situations. There is very little practical training in the core curriculum of law schools.

Because the ABA does not dictate specific subject matter for the legal specialty classes in a certified paralegal program, the actual areas of law covered can vary significantly depending on the program but much of the subject matter tends to be oriented to practical skills in assisting in litigation matters.

Law schools generally have the following courses as part of their core curriculum:

Civil Procedure Law
Constitutional Law
Contract Law
Corporation Law
Criminal Law
Criminal Procedure Law
Evidence
Real Property Law
Tort Law

Law schools will also include any areas of law tested on the state bar exam as part of their core curriculum. There is no uniform book used for any of the classes. It varies from school to school and even from professor to professor.

I don’t recommend you take an online paralegal course. It is not going to give you any advantage in law school, and online certifications are also generally not respected by employers of paralegals. The only reason to take any paralegal program is to enhance your marketability as a paralegal, and even then it should be an ABA certified paralegal program
